New ZX Spectrum game translated from Russian: Star Heritage #retro #zxspectrum

Star Heritage is a ‘new’ ZX Spectrum game with a difference. It’s an English version of a Russian graphical text adventure game released in the mid-1990s.

About five or six years ago someone on the World of Spectrum forums posted asking for help in translating the text and on and off since then I’ve helped out in polishing up the text from Russian into English, trying to avoid a heavy dollop of Yorkshire along the way.

The result has now, finally, been released for free download, after a lot of hard work by some very dedicated people.

The full game is absolutely huge, and what has been translated is the demo version.

It’s well worth a play if I do say so myself, utilising an excellent menu system that makes it much easier to pick up and play than a lot of text adventures.

It’s also fascinating to see how the Russian Spectrum scene developed, still producing AAA titles well into the 1990s.

I’m not sure if the full game will ever be translated, but if you have an interest in Speccy  game at all, then you want to head over to the World of Spectrum forums and check out Star Heritage.
